Some products need more than an ordinary shipping box. Heavy equipment, glassware, and anything that changes hands several times on its way to the customer can wear a standard box down fast. Full overlap slotted containers answer that with a flap structure that doubles up protection exactly where a box is most likely to fail: the top and bottom faces, part of our wider Snap Shut Boxes USA range.
Showing the single result
Full overlap slotted containers are corrugated shipping boxes made from a single sheet of board. Once the board is scored and slotted, it folds into a box with four flaps at the top and four at the bottom. The “full overlap” in FOL is about how those flaps meet when you close the box.
Compare that with a standard Regular Slotted Container (RSC), where the outer flaps only reach the middle. A strip of tape is all that covers the center. On an FOL box, the outer flaps are as long as the box is wide. When you close the box, they cover the entire top or bottom opening. Every part of the box face is protected by two layers of corrugated board.
The overlapping flaps give FOL boxes a few real advantages over lighter styles.
Because the flaps use more board than other styles, an FOL carton is generally a stronger option when protection matters more than material savings, similar to the added strength behind our Double Wall Boxes USA line.
Shipping puts packaging under constant stress. A box on its way to a customer gets dropped, stacked, and squashed. It’s lifted by hand, rolled along conveyors, carried by forklift, and loaded onto trucks. FOL shipping boxes are reinforced where that strain lands hardest.
Because the top and bottom have two layers, pressure spreads across the whole carton. It doesn’t all end up on the tape seam. That makes FOL boxes a good fit for heavier, bulkier, or more fragile goods, and for shipments that will be stacked during storage or freight transport, the same stacking concerns behind our Standard Mailing Boxes USA work.
For added protection, businesses often pair FOL boxes with inserts, dividers, or void fill suited to their product, the same custom-fit approach behind our Cardboard Inserts US

Every product is different, and packaging works best when it fits the item inside- the same sizing philosophy behind our Custom Rigid Boxes USA line. Custom full overlap slotted containers can be made to match your product’s dimensions, weight, and shipping requirements.
Customisation options may include:
A snug fit means less space inside, so the product can’t shift around. That can mean fewer damaged orders and fewer returns.
FOL boxes are a dependable choice for products that need more protection than a Corrugated Display Boxes USA carton provides. Typical applications include:
They’re also a common choice for long-term storage, since they keep their shape under weight for a long time.
Choosing the right box comes down to balancing protection, cost, and how your product travels- the same balance we weigh on every project. Corrugated FOL boxes make sense when damage prevention is a priority.
Do your products get handled roughly or travel a long way? FOL packaging can help them arrive in one piece, and that cuts what you spend on replacements.
Ordering is straightforward, much like placing a first order on our Amazon Compatible Packaging USA line:

Get Custom QuoteFOL stands for Full Overlap. It refers to a slotted box where the outer flaps are long enough to completely cover the top or bottom opening.
They suit anything heavy, delicate or expensive that has to be shipped or stored. Industrial parts, machinery, glassware and pallet loads are the usual examples.
Yes. FOL boxes can be made to custom sizes, and printing and other options may be available. Tell us about your project, and we'll go through the options with you.
It comes down to the top and bottom, where most boxes give way first. Two layers of board there help the carton take the weight of a stack, the squeeze of a full truck and plenty of rough handling.
Yes, slightly. Longer flaps need more board, so an FOL box costs a bit more than an RSC. If you ship something heavy or breakable, one prevented break can cover that difference.
Start by measuring the item, and leave some extra room if it needs padding. Tell us the size and the weight, and we'll pick a box and the board to go with it.
