Corrugated display boxes ship as a sealed carton. A perforated panel then tears away, and the box becomes a shelf display. Hale Path Packaging builds them for brands selling through US retailers, alongside our custom collectible figure boxes.
A corrugated display box has to pass two tests. First, it survives freight as a closed carton. Second, it works as a retail display box once a store associate opens it. Most failures happen at the handoff between the two. So we treat the closed carton and the opened tray as separate states. Both states get a physical check before the die is cut.
Freight is rough on a loaded display. A B-flute display box handles heavy or tall loads. An E-flute display box suits lighter products and sharper print. Board grade follows product weight and stack height. We load each prototype to its rated weight, with the tear panel in place, before print approval. Pair it with custom card slab boxes when the master case needs more strength.
The tear line is the weakest point on a tear-away display box. It must hold through freight and still open by hand in the store. When it does not, associates reach for box cutters. Every production run gets a hand-tear test before it ships. The perforation rule sits in the same die as the structure, as with our custom diamond-painting kit boxes. Two runs of one tray showed why. The second had a shallower perforation on one side. Stores reached for cutters and nicked the header card.
A New York bakery has reordered corrugated display boxes for four holiday seasons. Each season brings a new printed design. Customers now spot the displays before they see the logo.

Once the panel tears away, the box become corrugated display boxes tray. It must stand steady and hold the product forward. The front lip height determines how much shoppers can see and reach. The torn edge should be clean, with no ragged fibres. We check the opened tray in its own state, with product loaded. A corrugated counter display box at the register needs a different footprint from a shelf tray. Get the retailer’s pack-out spec before the dieline is set. Our cardboard display boxes cover the checkout side. Full-color graphics print best on E-flute, so custom printed corrugated boxes suit most counter units.
Start with your retailer’s packout and shelf-ready guidelines. These set the size, weight, and layout the display must follow. We construct the dieline, which is the flat box template, to those exact numbers. Runs start at 100 units. They import 7 to 14 business days after proof approval. We explain the custom model kit packaging before you commit. We also load every sample and take it apart to check the build before you see it. Small test runs and larger orders get the same checks.

They are corrugated cartons that ship product and then act as the display. A perforated panel tears away in the store. The box becomes a PDQ tray, counter unit, or floor stand. Each dieline is drawn around your product and the retailer's spec.
It is a row of small cuts that holds during freight and opens by hand. The ratio of cut to uncut sections sets how easily it tears. We tune that ratio to the board and flute. A good perforated display carton opens without tools.
Choose E-flute for lighter products and sharper print. Choose B-flute for heavier loads and taller stacks. B-flute also resists crushing better. We confirm the grade against a loaded prototype. That keeps a corrugated display tray from sagging on the shelf.
A PDQ tray is small and standard at the register or on a stand. A floor display is freestanding and holds far more stock. Each needs its own board grade and footprint. We size the base to the fixture, not the reverse. A corrugated pallet display adds pallet limits on top.
Get the shelf width, depth and height from the buyer. Ask for facings, front-lip rules and any label zones. Do not estimate from a store photo. The dieline is built from the retailer's numbers. Our guide to planogram-ready cardboard displays explains how fixture specs drive case size.
Send product dimensions, weight and units per display. Add the retailer's pack-out spec if you have one. Say how many displays you need. A quick review of these details sets the board grade. A display box with header card also needs your artwork.
Major chains print shelf ready and packout guidelines for vendors, and the rules vary by chain. Obtain the current version before design starts. We build to the spec you supply. Buyers may also test how the display opens on the sales floor.
Yes. We keep coatings minimal on displays meant for the recycling bin. Some states also apply packaging EPR rules, so read our state EPR packaging laws guide for your markets.
