Custom Collectible Coin Boxes collector cares about oils and air reaching the surface as much as scratches. Hale Path Packaging builds capsule-well and slab-ready coin boxes for numismatists, mint-set sellers, and coin dealers. For a comparable cavity-fitted build, our Poker Size Playing Cards page is worth a look.
Custom collectible coin boxes is cut to hold the coin’s real holder, not the coin alone. You can store a coin in a 2×2 flip, an Air Tite capsule, or a PCGS or NGC slab, and each of those has a different footprint. Every order gets measured against your holder style before the foam or velvet well is cut, since a well cut for a flip leaves a slab rattling loose inside the case. A coin collector display box built this way holds anywhere from a single graded coin to a full mint proof set.
Silver and copper coins react with the plasticizer in ordinary PVC foam, and over months that leaves a greenish haze across the coin’s high points, what collectors call PVC rot. Collectible coin boxes get lined with acid-free, lignin-free board and PVC-free foam or velvet instead, the same standard used for archival coin storage in museum conservation cases.
One customer’s inherited coin set arrived from a competitor’s PVC-lined case with haze already forming on three coins. A PVC-free capsule well stopped it from spreading to the rest of the set; the same fix behind the tray-style inserts is covered on our Playing Cards page.

Don’t put a logo where the coin’s edge should be the first thing someone sees is feedback we hear from dealers building a branded line for a coin show. A thin foil border or a debossed mint mark along the lid edge reads as a numismatic coin box built for the hobby, not a retail gift box repurposed for coins. Dealers selling at shows often order the same lid template across several coin album box sizes, so a booth display reads as one line instead of mismatched cases. A fully clear lid window follows the same disc-shaped approach we use on our Business prompt cards page.
Foil stamped too close to a clear window can cloud or cover the plastic at the edge, leaving a hazy ring around the opening once the die’s heat and pressure hit that spot. Production maintains a 2- 3 mm buffer between any foil element and the window itself, so the coin stays observable with no blurred border around it.
Hale Path Packaging sets a 50-unit minimum on collectible coin boxes, lower than our standard 100, since dealers and estate-sale sellers often need smaller runs. Turnaround runs 8-12 working days. One dealer’s first order used a nice depth for a 2×2 flip, then a follow-up shipped in NGC slabs about 3mm taller. The mismatch was caught at quality check, and the wells were re-cut before the order shipped. Our Affirmation cards US page has more on handling mixed-height insert requests.

It's a fitted case built around your coin's actual holder, a coin capsule storage box for Air-Tite capsules, a coin slab display case for graded PCGS/NGC slabs, or a flip-sized well, rather than a generic round slot.
A capsule box holds separate coins worked nicely for production; Custom Collectible Coin Boxes store a bound album or page set flat, covering the pages instead of each coin separately.
A slab case covers graded coins crowded by PCGS or NGC; an album works for ungraded or natural coins you want to consider and address constantly. Neither replaces the other for every coin type. Our Presentation Boxes page has on display-first shapes like the slab case.
It counts for silver and copper. PVC plasticizer off-gassing causes observable tarnish haze over months; PVC-free foam and acid-free board avoid that reaction entirely.
Yes, a custom collectible coin box can be cut with mixed-depth wells in the same case, though you'll want to confirm holder types up front so the wells are cut to the right depth for each. A smaller-scale version of that mixed-cavity approach is covered on our Game Card page.
Our standard minimum on collectible coin boxes is 50 units, lower than most of our other rigid box lines, to fit smaller dealer and estate-sale runs. The reasoning behind that lower threshold is laid out further on our conversation cards page.
Yes, we ship both to home or business addresses and directly to show venues when a dealer needs stock waiting at check-in.
The outer board shell is sourced from sustainably managed paperboard and recycles the same as standard board; the PVC-free insert foam is not curbside recyclable, though it avoids the plasticizer off-gassing that ordinary foam liners release over time.
